After the new year celebration, It can be seen that there is an increase in Corona cases in India. According to a report published in the Times of India, all variants of Omicron XBB.1.5 tally up to 5. These are same variants that now makeup over 40% Covid cases in the US.
Among all this, many videos went viral on social media, and it is being said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a lockdown in the country. Some people are also talking about lockdowns in different states of India.
By sharing the post a Facebook user captioned: “ 72-hour lockdown is very bad news for the country, pm Modi’s big decision to close schools.”

Fact Check:
To know the reality and find the source of real video the team of DFRAC did a fact check of the videos.
- In the first video, we can see the logo of ABP, through which the team searched for the official Youtube channel of ABP and found the video which was uploaded on 24 March 2020. The heading states- “ PM Modi’s big announcement – lockdown | in the entire country from 12 o’clock tonight ABP News Hindi.”

- Related to Rajasthan lockdown we did some keyword searches on google and found that the official YouTube channel of ABP News uploaded the video on 21 march 2020, with the headline states- “Coronavirus: Complete Lockdown In Rajasthan Till 31 March | ABP News.”

The Rajasthan government has not made any such declaration lately.
Conclusion:
It is clear from the fact check of DFRAC that there is no announcement of a Covid lockdown. Therefore, the claim made by social media users is 2 years old and misleading.
