Fact Check: Old video of Hindu women slapping Muslim men goes viral again? 

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘Pathan’ is in controversy over his song Besharam. Actress Deepika Padukone’s wearing of a saffron costume in the film is being opposed. 

Meanwhile, a video is going viral on Twitter. The viral video is from inside a train. In which a saree-clad woman can be seen slapping a young man wearing a cap, pulling his hair, and forcing him to apologize by touching his feet.

This video has been shared on Twitter by Sudarshan News Channel Editor Suresh Chavhanke. Giving a caption to the video, “ that Pathan got saffron-colored prasad”.

Apart from this, many other users also shared this video with the same caption. Which can be seen here. 

Fact Check:

To know the reality of the video, the DFRAC team first converted the video into a keyframe with the help of the InVID tool and reversed all the keyframes separately, and found the screen grab of the viral video in The Wire report.

According to the report, the viral video is from October 18, 2021. The woman seen in the video is Hindu leader Madhu Sharma. A Muslim youth was allegedly beaten up after he was pushed while passing through the railway coach gallery. 

Conclusion:

Therefore, it is clear from the fact check of DFRAC that the viral video has been shared with a misleading claim. Because the video has nothing to do with the Pathan film.
