A piece of news is getting viral on the social media that legendary Brazilian football Pele has passed away. Meanwhile, sharing a picture of Pele, social media user wrote, “Brazilian legend PELE is no more. Rest in PEACE.”

Similarly, another user wrote, “The footballing Godfather Pele is no more. Rest in power Legend.”

Many other users have shared this claim on their social media handles.

Fact Check

On keyword search, the DFRAC team found an article The New York Times which was published on December 3, 2022  with the headline, “Pelé and His Doctors Push Back on Reports Speculating About His Health.”

Furthermore, we also found a recent Instagram post by the footballer in which he mentioned that, “My friends, I want to keep everyone calm and positive. I’m strong, with a lot of hope and follow my treatment as usual. I want to thank the entire medical and nursing team for all the care I have received.

I have a lot of faith in God and every message of love I receive from you all over the world keeps me full of energy. And watch Brazil in the World Cup too!
