Detoxification, or in short detox, is usually used to describe removing harmful substances from the body and for some unknown reason, the public is getting obsessed with detoxification.
Some blogs claim that putting your feet in certain solutions or using detox pads on our feet can detox the body.
Fact Check:
First of all, the word “Detox” is rarely used by certified medical professionals because it does not have a scientific basis.
Then, to further investigate the team wrote certain keywords to find the authenticity of the claim and found that researchers of the National Library of Medicine in the year 2012 study took an in-depth look at the Ion Cleanse foot bath and found that the foot detox did nothing to reduce toxin levels in the body. They also concluded that the foot bath didn’t stimulate the body to remove toxins by itself, such as through the kidneys or liver.
Other than this, it has some side effects that might include nausea, vomiting, or dizziness.
If a person is diabetic, he/she should consult the doctor before trying a foot detox. The process may affect one’s blood sugar levels.
Conclusion:
There isn’t any research to support the use of foot detoxes helps in the detoxification of the body, but there isn’t any reason to suspect that the process is harmful or unsafe.
