Fact Check: Hate account continue to share deceptive videos targeting India.

DFRAC Editor November 7, 2022
Muslim India

Social media account, مرصد مسلمي الهند (@India__Muslim) continuously keeps sharing misinformation/disinformation against India. Recently, this account has shared a video with the caption, “طلاب هندوس متطرفين يقوموا بالاحتجاج اليوم في مدرسة ثانوية بولاية ماديا براديش الهندية حيث يطالبوا من إدارة المدرسة بإلغاء الصلاة بالمدرسة ويرددون شعار ” بهارات ماتا کي جاي ” يعني إله الهندوس كما يزعمون.!!”

“Extremist Hindu students are protesting today in a secondary school in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, where they demand the school administration to cancel prayer in the school and chant the slogan “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, which means the Hindu god as they claim!!”

Soon, this video went viral with more than hundreds of likes.

Fact Check

Analyzing different keyframes of the video and applying reverse image search on them the DFRAC team found that this video is of the recent incident held in a Christ Senior Secondary school in Guna, Madhya Pradesh. According to ANI, “People gathered outside Christ Senior Secondary School in Guna earlier today in protest and chanted bhajans, a day after one student was allegedly punished for chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ after the national anthem in the school assembly.” Comparing the background of both videos, it was found that both videos are of the same place.

Comparison of the screengrab

The real story was that when a student chanted ‘Bharat Mate ki Jai’ after the national anthem his class teacher made him sit on the floor for 4-5 periods.

"I chanted 'Bharat Mata ki jai' after national anthem. A teacher held my collar, pulled me out of queue & told me to go to Principal. My class teacher told me to chant this at home&not in school. She made me sit on floor for 4-5 periods, " says student who was allegedly punished pic.twitter.com/jOPocIwvzO

According to the principal, Fr Thomas, “Students were going to house gathering after national anthem to select Capt & Vice Capt when one student chanted ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. He chanted that as a joke, not patriotism. Disrespectful! They hold a disciplinary committee meeting to decide what to do next.”

Then, some parents and organizations were protesting outside the school after a student was reportedly punished over chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai.’

Furthermore, many other social media users also have shared this incident.

MP: Guna police lodged an FIR against two school teachers – Justin & Jasmine Khatoon – of a missionary school for allegedly scolding & punishing a class 7 student for chanting "Bharat Mata Ke Jai" after national anthem in morning assembly.

Moreover, ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ is said by Indians to honour their motherland. It means, “’Long live Mother India’. It is not a Hindu slogan but a patriotic slogan.

Conclusion

Therefore, from this factcheck it is clear that the whole incident is totally different as presented by @India__Muslim. There was no demand from the school administration to cancel prayer in the school and chant the slogan Bharat Mata Ki Jai.
