#BoycottCadbury started trending on Twitter after Diwali for more than one reasons.
People on social media are claiming that beef is being used in the Cadbury’s chocolates also the products are ‘halal certified’, while others objected to the advertisement for having a link with PM Modi.

Madhu Purnima Kishwar (@madhukishwar) a verified account on Twitter states, “Is this true @CadburyUK? If yes, Cadbury deserves to be sued for forcing Hindus to consume halaal certified beef products Our ancestors &Gurus sacrificed their lives but didn’t accept eating beef. But post “independence” rulers have allowed our Dharma to be violated with impunity.”
Another verified user Sadhvi Prachi, a member of RSS shared the advertisement of Cadbury with the caption, “Have you carefully observed Cadbury chocolate’s advertisement on TV channels? The shopless poor lamp seller is Damodar. This is done to show someone with PM Narendra Modi’s father’s name in poor light. Chaiwale ka baap diyewala. Shame on Cadbury Company #BoycottCadbury.”
Thousands of users participated in this hashtag where majority of the users were the non-verified users, i.e. 3,437 users and 58 verified users tweeted on the hashtag.
To investigate the viral claim DFRAC team saw the screenshot closely and found the website on the top of the screenshot it was written as, “Cadbury.com.au/product/halal.”
When we searched the full form of “au” we found it to be of “Australia” and not India.
On further, investigation we found the thread from Cadbury India itself denying all the claims of containing beef in the Cadbury.
In which they have clarified that all the products manufactured and sold in India are 100% vegetarian also the green dot on the wrapper signifies the same.
Through our investigation and by Cadbury itself coming forward denying the claim proves the claims of beef is being used in the Cadbury’s chocolates is fake.
