Some users on social media sites are claiming that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi did not visit a single temple monastery during the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” even though he visited several Muslim and Christian foundations.
A user named Cogito shared this and wrote “Within 3 days of his Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi visited 7 Christian and Muslim organizations including churches and mosques in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. He did not visit a single Hindu temple or monastery. He has so far made it clear to Tamil and Malayali Hindus who they represent in these two states. (Hindi translation)
Many other users done a similar claim.
Fact check:
To analyze the viral claim DFRAC did a simple search on Google to verify Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s claim that he did not visit a single temple or monastery during the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’. During this time we received a report published by the website onmanorama.com. According to this report, Rahul Gandhi visited Sivagiri Mutt in Kollam during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
According to the report, Rahul was given a warm welcome by the owners there at Sivagiri Mutt. Swami Sachchidananda, president of Sivagiri Dharma Sangham Trust, said, “We are happy to receive the Congress leader who did not wait for an official invitation. ’
Before Rahul, the country’s first Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi also visited Sivagiri mutt, the report said.
Meanwhile, DFRAC did a reverse image search of the schedule sheet shared by the users, the team could not find it published by Congress or any trusted source.
