Users are claiming regarding Deendayal Upadhyay on social media sites that he ran an alliance government with the Muslim league.
A user named Hell Walla while replying to the tweet wrote “Din Heen Dayal Upadhyay Ji is the only hero, although he did not have any contribution in history except to form the government with the Muslim league”.
On the other hand on Twitter, another user #SatyaSarthi – Narendra tweeted a picture claiming, “Since then the Muslims living in India have become the eyes of the federalists and the Muslim brothers of Pakistan. There is a special respect for Jinnah in the hearts of the federalists, so Advani had also come to the tomb to bow his head. In the photo, the teachers of the federalists, Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Jinnah are together. who are you with??????” (English translation)
Fact check:
To analyze the above claim, DFRAC did a simple search on Google with the help of some special keywords. There were many reports published by different media houses on Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya was born on September 25, 1916, in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. He was a thinker and organizer of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
He was a founding member of the All India Jana Sangh, which was founded on 21 October 1951 in Delhi by Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Professor Balraj Madhok, and him. The election symbol of this party was Deepak. They won 3 seats in the 1952 parliamentary election.
Until 1967, Pt. Deendayal was the General Secretary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh. In 1967, he was elected president of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh at the Calicut session. He was president of the Jana Sangh for only 43 days. He presented the Sanatan ideology of India in an age-befitting manner and gave the country a principle called integral humanism.
On the night of 10/11 February 1968, he was murdered at Mughalsarai station. The name of Mughalsarai station, built in 1862, has changed to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay by the Yogi Adityanath government in June 2018.
In 1906, the All India Muslim League was founded in Dhaka. Nowhere did we find any historical evidence about Pandit Deendayal forming an alliance government with the Muslim League.
The question is, then who formed the government with the Muslim League before independence? First, we will know the reality of the second tweet and then find the answer to this question.
Through the picture tweeted by Satyasarathy –Narendra, it has claimed that Deendayal Upadhyay is seen with Jinnah in it.
Using reverse-image in it on the internet, DFRAC found that the image was picked up from Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s Wikipedia page.
This picture is of the Working Committee of the Muslim League after a meeting in Lucknow in October 1937.
According to the Wikipedia page, Deendayal Upadhyay was graduating from Kanpur in 1937.
Jansatta newspaper wrote in a report, “This was the period of The Second World War. The British were throwing the Indians into battle. Congress was directed to dissolve its governments running in different states against this. At the same time, the Hindu Mahasabha was forming governments in Sindh, North West Province, and Bengal with the Muslim League. Fazlul Haque was the prime minister of the government formed in Bengal in 1941 by the alliance of Hindu Mahasabha and Muslim League and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was the finance minister. Mukherjee was finance minister for 11 months in Fazlul’s government that proposed the partition of India. ”
According to the Hindu Mahasabha website, it is the first political party in the country. Its was established by pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya in 1914.
Conclusion:
It is clear from this fact-check of DFRAC that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay did not form the government with the Muslim League, but the Hindu Mahasabha formed the government under the leadership of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee with the Muslim League and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay is related to the Bharatiya Jana Sangh which came into existence on October 21, 1951. Similarly, there is no question of him appearing with Jinnah in the picture because the picture is from 1937 when he was studying in Kanpur, so the claim made by social media users is misleading.
