A screenshot of PM Modi eating food is going viral on social media sites along with the picture the caption states that according to the reports of RTI PM Modi spends an amount of 41 thousand 5 hundred and 79 rupees only on his food.
People are sharing this screenshot all over the internet rather sarcastically.
A user on Facebook user shared the same screenshot.
Fact Check:
DFRAC desk typed specific keywords on Google to investigate the viral claim and found many reports from different Hindi and English news sites which claim that PM Modi himself bears the expenses of Food that he eats.
A report from timesnownews.com tells that, as per an RTI reply, PM Modi bears his own food expenses and not a single rupee is spent on it from the government budget.
According to reports from Patrika.com, a Hindi news site PM Modi has always been conscious about his diet. His daily routine starts at five in the morning. After doing yoga in the morning, they get ready at 7:00 in the morning. For breakfast, he likes to eat Thepla, Dhokla or Poha. In the afternoon, he likes to eat light Gujarati or South Indian food. For dinner, Prime Minister Modi’s plate consists of roti, lentils, and curd, etc. That is, our Prime Minister eats simple food even than a common person.
The team further investigate the picture used in the viral screenshot and found it to be an old image which is used earlier also by many news houses for different reports.
Conclusion:
The image used in the viral screenshot is old and the claim is fake as no such news made its way in the national media houses.
