Vinayak Damodar Savarkar is quite an interesting topic in the context of History as well as Indian Politics. His ideologies often found highlighted spots in many pollical discussions and debates in Modern India as well. One such picture is going viral, which is being claimed that it is of Savarkar. Sharing this picture, users are claiming that in the photo, Savarkar is accepting the proposal of Partition.
Meanwhile, a user Manoj Tomar wrote- “Savarkar accepting the partition proposal, those who make noise about the partition, see this too..Sorry, look at Veer, the thief is visible from the face, those who were against the partition are also sitting here, see blind devotees to their ideal. ..! “(English Translation).
Fact check:
To verify the viral picture DFRAC first did a reverse image search. The team found that the image was published on the website of the Hindustan Times (hindustantimes.com). This report mentions the people seen in the picture.
According to the report, the picture is of “the conference in New Delhi where Lord Mountbatten revealed Britain’s partition plan for India (from left to right) Indian leader Jawaharlal Nehru, Lord Ismay, advisor to Lord Louis Mountbatten, Viceroy of India, Lord Mountbatten, and Muhammad Ali Jinnah, President of the All India Muslim League.”
