Fact Check: Is there any communal angle behind the murder of the religious leader in Nashik?

35-year-old Khwaja Syed Zarib Chishti was shot dead in Nashik, Maharashtra. Four years ago, he came to India as a refugee. The Government of India, has put him under the refugee category. Prima facie, Police told that the reason behind the murder may be land or money dispute. At present, the matter is under investigation.

At the same time, the murder of Sufi Maulana took communal colors on social media. Some users are claiming that Hindutva organizations have murdered the Sufi saint. Meanwhile, user named @SupportProphetM wrote in Arabic – “This is the fourth time Hindus have targeted Imam. Muslim saint Khwaja Syed Chishti (35) was shot dead by 4 Hindus. ,

Similarly, another user has also posted with the same caption.

Fact Check:

We did a simple search on Google on the claim about the murder of a religious saint. We got a report from ‘ Indian Express ‘ . According to this report, the police has primarily told a property dispute behind Imam’s murder. Police is investigating the matter. Further, no communal angle has come to the fore in this matter yet.

Therefore, The reason behind the murder is property. And, there is no communal angle to it yet. Hence, the claims of social media users is misleading.
