An image is going viral on the internet of people burning the Indian Flag. Further, sharing the image on social media users are targeting the Indian Muslim community. Along with the picture Facebook user, Tarun Soti wrote the caption, “Peaceful Muslims burning Our Tiranga (National Flag) today in India. #HindusUnderAttackInIndia.”
Similarly, many other users have shared this picture on their user handle.

On reverse image search we found the same image on the website of Associated Press. Moreover, the title of the image is PAKISTAN INDIA ISLAM. In the overview it was given that, “supporters of religious groups burn a representation of Indian flag during a demonstration to condemn derogatory references to Islam and the Prophet Muhammad recently made by Nupur Sharma, a spokesperson of the governing Indian Hindu nationalist party, in Lahore, Pakistan, Thursday, June 9, 2022.”
We also found the same image on The Washington Post in an article dated June 9 2022. And, Aljazeera also used the same image in an article titles, South Asia protests over prophet remarks by India’s BJP officials published on 10th June , 2022. Hence, the image is from Pakistan, not from India.

Therefore, from our fact check analysis, it is clear that the users are sharing the viral image with misleading claim.
