Fact Check: Did Police take Rana Ayyub forcefully from a protest site?

An image is getting viral on the internet with the claim that Police is taking away Journalist Rana Ayyub forcefully from a protest site. Further, sharing an image, a Twitter account whose location is shown Lahore, Pakistan wrote the caption, Jinnah was always right ..what a brave girl ..salute to her courage @RanaAyyub may ALLAH be with her.”

Similarly, many other users have shared this picture on social media with the similar claim.

Fact Check

On reverse image search, we found a Facebook page of Fraternity Movement Kerala. The Fraternity Movement is the student’s wing of the political outfit Welfare Party of India. According to their reports, the girl in the picture is Aysha Renna not Ranna Ayyub. She is a student leader from Kerala.

Furthermore, on keyword search we have not found any recent news of Ranna Ayyub getting detained by Police.

Conclusion

Therefore, the claim of social media users are wrong. The girl in the viral image is not Rana Ayyub. And, the news that Police is forcefully taking away Rana Ayyub from a protest site is fake.
