To know the truth behind this statement. DFRAC searched for the same on Google and found news on EnergyWorld.com with the headline
“India now has the highest taxes on fuel in the world!”
Now the taxes in India comprise over 69 percent of the pump price of the two fuels.
A graph was too embedded by them in the news to example it more.
The same was covered in BusinessToday.In with the headline
“69%! India now has highest taxes on petrol and diesel in the World.”
Conclusion:
Though, the taxation in India is higher from any other country, but it is not 260% as stated by Saral Patel , but is 69%.
