An India TV news clip is going viral on social media. In this clip, the anchor can be seen reporting a rebellion within the Assam BJP and claiming that the RSS has distanced itself from the party. The report mentions an alleged letter from RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to PM Modi, asserting that the RSS has raised serious questions about the current leadership in Assam and asked PM Modi if the Assam BJP is turning into a party of former Congress members.
Sharing this video, a user named Ajit Singh Deol wrote: “BIG BREAKING: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat announces that Swayamsevak Sangh will not work for the BJP in Assam.” Bhagwat wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi saying—former Congressmen have taken over the BJP, therefore, this time the Sangh will oppose Himanta Biswa Sarma not for power, but to save the BJP. “Watch the Full report“( English translation)

Fact Check:
To verify the viral video, the DFRAC team began by examining India TV’s YouTube channel, as anchor Meenakshi Joshi and several panelists featured in the clip. During the search, a debate video with the same panelists, uploaded on March 15, was identified. After reviewing the full 41-minute and 43-second video, it was found that the viral segment does not appear at any point in the broadcast. Additionally, no such news related to the RSS or BJP was reported in the discussion. Notably, the debate took place prior to the announcement of assembly elections in five states.
Upon further investigation, it was found that Guru Prakash Medhi, the RSS Mahanagar Sanghchalak of Assam, filed a complaint regarding the viral fake letter at the Cyber Cell in Pan Bazar, Guwahati. When contacted, his team confirmed that a separate complaint has also been lodged in Rohini, Delhi. This complaint was filed by Akshay Kumar Agarwal at the Cyber Police Cell in Sector-17, Rohini.

In his complaint, Medhi alleged that a fake and misleading post, reportedly generated using Artificial Intelligence, is being circulated to falsely associate it with the RSS. He termed the letter as fabricated, malicious, and deceptive, aimed at damaging the organization’s reputation, and has called for strict action against those responsible.
Conclusion:
DFRAC’s fact-check clearly shows that a misleading claim has been made on social media by linking a digitally altered India TV video to PM Modi and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. Several RSS leaders have filed complaints regarding this fake letter. Therefore, the users’ claim is false.
