Fact-Check

In the probe. The DFRAC team found that the video had been misrepresented on X. We reverse-searched the keyframes generated from the viral video, which took us to some of the latest reports published by Indian Express, MSN, and India Today. The reports featured the same video stating that in a shocking incident, two bike-borne miscreants hurled a hand grenade in Amritsar’s Khandwala area. The CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, which shows the miscreants arriving at the location on a bike with a flag mounted over it.

Collage of news headlines from major media outlets, including MSN, India Today, and The Indian Express, reporting on a grenade attack outside a temple in Amritsar. The headlines mention that the attack was caught on CCTV and that police are investigating a possible Pakistan link, with some reports suggesting an ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) connection. The image also features the logo of DFRAC, a fact-checking organization, indicating that these reports may be under scrutiny for accuracy. The news highlights security concerns and cross-border terrorism threats, but verification is needed to separate facts from misinformation.

Adding that, the attack took place on the intervening night of March 14-15 at around 12:35 am. However, no casualties were reported.

Conclusion

It is evident from DFRAC ‘s fact-check that the viral video has been misleadingly shared on X. In reality, two bike-borne miscreants hurled a hand grenade in Amritsar’s Khandwala area, not Khalistanis.
