A pak-based handle has shared a piece of news on social media platform X(formerly Twitter) alleging that Indonesia has rejected India’s BrahMos cruise missile. The rejection comes after the fake stated specifications and the incident of launch site explosions in the Philippines (July 2024)
X handle named Tactical Tribune shared an image and wrote: “Indonesia has rejected India’s BrahMos cruise missile. The rejection comes after: – Fake stated specs – The incident of launch site explosions in Philippines (July 2024)”
Fact-Check
In the probe, the DFRAC team found the news to be false. A keyword search in this regard led us to the latest reports by The New Indian Express, Eurasian Times and Caliber Az. As per reports, India is on track for another significant defense export deal, with reports suggesting that Indonesia’s defence ministry has officially approached India regarding a $450 million BrahMos missile deal.
We also checked the official account of the Ministry of External Affairs of Indonesia and found no such claims of rejection about the BrahMos Missile deal.
On investigating further, we found the claim stating that the incident of launch site explosions in the Philippines was completely fake and had been previously debunked by DFRAC
Conclusion
It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that that the above-shared news alleging that Indonesia has rejected India’s BrahMos cruise missile is misleading indeed as the reports have stated that the two countries are thrashing out details for an export deal for the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile
Rest of the information will be updated further.
