A video showing author and Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy endorsing her investments is making rounds on social media platforms. The video has been shared by numerous users on the Internet.

A facebook user shared this video on facebook carrying the text: “THE PROJECT PROVIDES YOU WITH A PROFIT OF 3,100,000 RUPEES IF YOU INVEST 30,000 RUPEES IN NOVEMBER”

Fact-check

In the probe, we found that the audio part of the video had been AI-generated
On closely inspecting the video, we noted that Sudha Murthy’s lip movements do not match the audio part of the viral video.
For further investigation, we reverse-searched the keyframes generated from the above viral video using Google Lens and found the same video on YouTube, posted in 2017 with the caption: “Mrs. Sudha Murty at Jamnabai Narsee Campus” We examined this video and found that she did not endorse any investment in the given speech.

Further, we separated the audio part and examined it using Hive moderation which certified it as AI-generated.
Hence, it can be concluded that the AI-generated audio has been digitally added to the video.
