Some pak-based handles took to social media platform X(formerly Twitter) and claimed the Indian military had been attacked multiple times in Jammu and Kashmir in which 21 Indian soldiers were confirmed dead.
Taking to X, a Pak-based account named Ironclad posted an image of an Indian Flag and wrote: “Multiple attacks on Indian military in Jammu & Kashmir, 21 Indian soldiers confirmed dead.”
The account is known for spreading misinformation against India on X.
Furthermore, several pak-based handles posted some images and made similar claims. The link can be seen here, here and here.
Fact-Check
In our investigation, the DFRAC team found that no such attacks had been reported. A Google keyword search in this regard led us to several latest reports from India today, Deccan Herald and NDTV. As per reports, An Indian Army soldier was found dead, with bullet injuries on his body, after being kidnapped by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The reports further stated that two soldiers of the Territorial Army, were kidnapped from the forest area in Anantnag during a joint anti-terror operation but one of them managed to escape, even after suffering two bullet injuries.
Moreover, we found a tweet by the Srinagar-based Indian Army handle (@ChinarcorpsIA) honouring the sacrifice of a deceased soldier and offering condolences to his family.
Conclusion
It is evident from DFRAC’s fact-check that the claim made by Pak handles is completely fake. In reality, an Indian soldier has been found dead who was abducted by the militants during a joint anti-terror operation.
