As usual miyalords released Omkar, the r@pist of Lovepreet’s sister on bail, Lovepreet took matters into his own hands and served justice to his sister.”
Fact Check
The DFRAC team, while investigating both the viral videos, found that both these videos were posted on an Instagram account named Addu Defaulter on 10 August 2024. In our investigation, we also found that the r@pe accused named Omkar Singh in Kapurthala, Punjab was murdered by the victim’s brother Lovepreet along with his accomplice Akashdeep on 28 August 2024. Lovepreet was arrested by Punjab Police on 4 September.
In the Dainik Bhaskar report, accused Lovedeep can be seen wearing a mask. We also found that the boy who is being described as in the viral video, is being taken by Delhi Police for court appearance. That is, this boy is being brought to the court in connection with some another crime in Delhi. Here it is clear from the fact check that the boy who is being described as Lovepreet in the viral video is another boy from Delhi. Lovepreet, on the other hand, is in the custody of Punjab Police.
Conclusion
It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that the viral video is of a boy from Delhi, who is falsely being shared as Lovepreet. Our investigation also found that the viral video was posted on several Instagram accounts on April 10. In contrast, Omkar Singh was murdered on August 28, for which Lovepreet was arrested on September 4.
