In this video, Trump can be heard saying: “I am a Big Fan of Hindu and Big Fan of India. If I am elected President, the Hindu community and India will have a true friend in White House”
An account operating under the name Megh Updates has recently shared this video on X and wrote: “I am a Big Fan of Hindu and Big Fan of India. If I am elected President, the Hindu community and India will have a true friend in White House. We cannot prosper without security and India has always supported fight against Radical Islamic Terrorism: Donald Trump”

Fact-Check
To check the veracity of the above viral video, the DFRAC team converted this video into some keyframes and reverse-searched it using google lens. We found a similar video on the Facebook page of ANI that was posted on Oct 16, 2016. with the description: “US Elections 2016: Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump says, “Im a big fan of Hindus & of India; if elected as (the US) President, the Indian community will have a true friend in the White House”
In addition, we found some reports from ANI, Indian Express and New York Times published in 2016. According to reports, Donald J. Trump declared himself a big fan of Hindu and praised India’s PM at an Indian-American charity event that was organized by Republican Hindu Coalition on saturday, Oct 15, 2016

It is clear from DFRAC ‘s fact-check that the video of Trump from 2016 US presidential elections has been falsely linked to the 2024 US Presidential elections which will take place in Nov.
