A video circulating on social media allegedly shows PM Narendra Modi being targeted in Parliament. Users are debating whether the video was shot in the Parliament or another legislative assembly. One user wrote, “Before today, no one would have thrashed Modi ji like this in the House.”
Another user has shared this video with #Parliament written on it.
Fact Check:
Upon investigation, DFRAC found that the video was neither from the Parliament nor any House. This video is from the Rajasthan Assembly and features independent MLA Baljeet Yadav from the Behror assembly seat. The video dates back to March 1, 2021, when MLA Baljeet Yadav delivered his budget views.
Further, a video uploaded by Zoom News on YouTube shows at the timestamp of 26:40 minutes that Baljeet Yadav criticized PM Modi on various issues, including the farmer’s bill and MSP.
Baljeet Yadav is currently not a member of the Legislative Assembly. He was defeated by BJP candidate Dr. Jaswant Singh Yadav by 17223 votes in the 2023 assembly elections from the Behror assembly seat.
Conclusion:
DFRAC’s fact-check confirms that the video being shared featuring PM Modi has been edited and added to the original footage where the original footage is from the Rajasthan assembly which dates back to March 2021. Thus the video is not from Parliament. Therefore, the claim circulating on social media is misleading.
