After the tragic news of the Helicopter crash of the Iranian President, fake news has started to peddle. Majorly, Pakistani accounts are involved in pushing the news regarding the Indian Involvement in the Helicopter crash.
On the same line, again a claim was shared where it read, “One of India’s top diplomat named Sanjeev Mandia from #Indianembassy in Tehran tried to escape from #Iran. He was arrested at the departure gate of #Tehran International Airport by Iranian intelligence and has been moved to a secure location.”
Following this, other Pakistani users were also found sharing the same claim with similar images.
Fact Check
We investigated the viral claim using relevant Keywords. During the process, we found the claim to Fake and Baseless as no evidence or media reports were supporting the above claim. No reports regarding arrests or departure of Sanjeev Mandia, an Indian diplomat, from Iran have been reported.
Furthermore, we noticed an image widely shared linking it to Sanjeev Mandia’s arrests. However, we found that the image was from 2022 when Iraq forces arrested ISIS Leaders in Baghdad.
Additionally, we also cross-checked the official handle of the Indian embassy in Iran. There as well we didn’t find any such news.
Conclusion
Thus, the viral claim is baseless & Fake. Such unwanted claims about Indian involvement are being shared by Pak handles. India in Iran’s official handle has also not reported any such news.
