Old video from 2022 falsely associated with ongoing Lok Sabha Polls.

A video showing an individual distributing chickens and liquor bottles to some locals has recently surfaced on the social media site X(Twitter). The video also carries the mark “Elections in India“. Users are sharing this video & associating it with the recent Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Fact-Check

Upon reverse-searching the keyframes generated from the viral video, the DFRAC team found a tweet dated Oct 4, 2022, on the X handle of ANI carrying the extended version of this video. The tweet’s caption read: “TRS leader Rajanala Srihari distributes liquor bottles and chicken to locals ahead of Telangana CM KC Rao launching a national party tomorrow, in Warangal”.

Source: ANI on X

A further investigation of this video led us to some reports from Indian Express and English Jagran published in October, 2022. According to English Jagran’s report, a day before the launch of the national party by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, TRS leader Rajanala Srihari distributed liquor bottles and chicken to locals in Warangal. KCR is likely to announce the name of his national party Tomorrow (October 5, 2022) in an effort to elevate his status as a national leader ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

In addition to that, another report from Indian express mentioned similar facts regarding the above shared video.

Conclusion

It is evident from DFRAC’s fact-check the shared video is from October 2022, not the recent one. Moreover, it is unrelated to ongoing Lok Sabha Elections
