Soon after PM Modi’s Kashmir visit was announced, Pakistan‘s propaganda accounts found a new task to flood the internet with misleading news.
A claim was shared stating, “Complete shutdown Observed in Kashmir on PM Modi’s Visit Day”.
Multiple Pakistani accounts were found to share this claim.
Beside these accounts, Pakistan Media houses also published the shutdown claims. The Pakistani Kashmir Media service acted as a source for these claims for Pakistan media houses.
Fact Check
DFRAC team investigated the viral claim. During the investigation, we found multiple videos surfacing online from Kashmir. We found a video published on the official page of The Press Trust of India. The caption read, “Locals hail PM Modi ahead of his visit to #Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.”
Furthermore, a report by Deccan Herald dated 7 March 2024, reported that the venue of the prime minister’s rally is Bakshi Stadium in Kashmir.
Additionally, we found a video of the rally on the official account of Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha. In the video he can be seen addressing a large audience in Kashmir for PM Modi’s Rally. The post is also dated 7th March 2024.
