The DFRAC team investigated this video by converting it into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. Meanwhile, we found a statement given by a police official on the X(Twitter) handle of Meerut Police from Sep 25, 2018, asserting that three police personnel were suspended after the video went viral. A report regarding the Home Guard had been sent to the District Commandant Home Guard.
Moreover, media outlets such as Indian Express, The Print and Zee News also covered this incident in the year 2018.
A media report published by the newspaper website ‘Indian Express’ on September 25, 2018, cited: “According to UP Police, the incident took place two or three days back when a man and a woman were brought to a police station in the Medical area, Meerut on the suggestion of an organisation. Three police officials including a woman constable in Meerut were suspended on Tuesday after a video showing them slapping and abusing a woman allegedly for being friends with a man from another religion went viral, ANI reported”.
