What we found in media reports
According to a media report published by the Print on April 6, 2023, a massive fire broke out at Santoshpur railway station in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district on Thursday evening forcing the railway authorities to temporarily suspend train services on Eastern Railway’s Budge Budge-Sealdah section, a senior official said. The fire broke out at the railway station around 5.30 pm when it was crowded with passengers waiting for trains, he said, adding that no casualty was reported.
Apart from The Print, Media reports from India Today and the Deccan Herald also reported similar facts in the context of the above viral video.
Conclusion
It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that the viral video claiming a massive fire erupted at Mira Road railway station is misleading since the video shows an incident of fire erupting at Santoshpur railway station in West Bengal.
Hence, the claim of social media users is false.
