Was PM Modi listening to Premanand Maharaj's sermon in the high level meeting? Read- Fact-Check

A video is going viral on social media in which it can be seen that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and other officials are listening to a sermon by Maharaj Shri Premanand in a high-level meeting. In this video, Maharaj Premanand expresses concern about the increasing trend of violence among the youth.

A user named Professor Sarita Siddh, an X(Formerly Twitter), posted the video and wrote, “Listen to the entire video and share it for the benefit of the country, and it is essential to pay attention to the words spoken by Maharaj Shri! Modi ji and others are all listening.”(Translated into English)

Fact Check

The DFRAC team converted the viral video into individual frames to determine its authenticity. During this process, it was found that the viral video was created by editing two different videos.

One video pertains to a high-level meeting related to the June Odisha Balasore train accident involving PM Modi.

#WATCH प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने बालासोर ट्रेन दुर्घटना के संबंध में स्थिति की समीक्षा के लिए एक उच्च स्तरीय बैठक की अध्यक्षता की।#BalasoreTrainAccident pic.twitter.com/iPP5SGAZFe

— ANI_HindiNews (@AHindinews) June 3, 2023

According to media reports, there was a collision between two passenger trains and a freight train in Balasore, Odisha, where more than 200 people lost their lives, and around 650 people were injured.

On the other hand, the second video in the viral video was uploaded on the YouTube channel “Bhajan Marg” on November 29, 2023. It features a meeting and conversation between RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat and Maharaj Premanand.

Conclusion:

It is clear from DFRAC’s FactCheck that the viral video is edited. Therefore, the claim by social media users that Maharaj Premanand’s discourse is being heard by PM Narendra Modi, the Home Minister, and officials is misleading.
