In this video, Rahul Gandhi can be heard saying: ” there is no shortage of money, our farmer brothers are seated here. You have seen a pump, when tube well pump is switched on then the water comes out. A similar pump is installed. Don’t laugh, the pump is taking money out of your pockets. The button is pressed in Delhi, the Mumbai pump gets switched on and money goes out of the farmer’s pocket”.

Fact Check
The DFRAC team searched some keywords related to the viral video. We found a similar video uploaded on the YouTube channel of the Indian National Congress on 10 November 2022. In the video, Rahul Gandhi says “he asks a boy what he wants to do he said software engineer then he asked do you have a computer in your school he replied no. Why there is no computer in the school? Because all the money of India is going into the hands of three industrialists that is the reason why there is no computer in school.” (Translated into English)
He further says: “A similar thing happened with farmers. They don’t get MSD. Why don’t they get it? The loans don’t get waived. The same thing happens with laborers they don’t get money from MNREGA. They don’t get work. Why don’t they get it? “. After this comes the part of the viral video, where he said money will get out of pump.
Conclusion
Therefore, it is clear from the DFRAC’s fact check that the claim made with the viral video is misleading as the video has been digitally edited. In the actual speech, Rahul Gandhi satirically gave an example of the pump and said that farmers and laborers don’t get enough money.
