A video is getting viral on social media. In this video, two groups of girls can be seen fighting. Social media users are sharing this video with a communal claim. Users claim that during the Karvachauth fast, Hindu women went shopping in the market when Muslim women made improper comments. After which the Hindu women beat the Muslim woman fiercely.
Sharing this video, a user named ‘Alka FB 100%’ wrote- “Today a Hindu woman was shopping for Karva Chauth in Prayagraj. A Muslim girl made an improper. Hindu lionesses treated her in such a way that she would not forget forever. Re-tweet as much as possible so that those who fight for the honor of their festivals get courage” (English Translation)

The tweet has gained over 2,000 likes and over 1,200 re-tweets. At the same time, this video has also been shared by many other users.

To analyze the originality of the viral video, the DFRAC team converted the most video into several frames, followed by a reverse search. We found a tweet by journalist Amit Mathur. The tweet was posted on November 3, 2020. According to Amit Mathur, the incident took place in the Etah district of UP. He posted this video and wrote- “#Etah: In Babuganj market, a woman was called aunty by the girl, as soon as she heard aunty, the woman lost her temper and started beating the girl badly in the market. ” (English Translation)

Meanwhile, on searching more in the context of this video, the team found a report of News Nation. According to this report, the incident of assault between women took place for calling aunty.

1-The incident is not from Prayagraj but from the Etah district.
2-The incident took place in 2020, which is made viral recently.
3-There is no communal angle to women’s fights.
