Lots of trends are trending on Twitter urging people to boycott Bollywood. Social media users have begun utilizing anti-Bollywood hashtags, like #BoycottBollywood and #BoycottBrahmastra as they have the notion that Bollywood people hurt Hindu sentiments.
On one such misleading video DFRAC desk already has done a fact check:
Again, a nine second video of Bollywood celebrities Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor is going viral. In the video it is written in bold letters, “RANBIR KAPOOR DISRESPECTING LORD JAGANNATH.” For this Ranbir Kapoor is getting thrashed by lots of people on social media
The Tweet states, “Bollywood is the worst entity to represent Indian culture. #BoycottBrahamastra #IndicIdeas
Till the time the team was investigating the video, it already was having more than 1500 retweets and more than 1900 likes.
Fact Check:
The team used certain keywords to investigate the video and found the original video of the talk show which was uploaded on RKDP club.
The entire video was of 24 minutes and at about 5 minutes into the video, the viral part can be heard. In this both Deepika and Ranbir were called out to play a game by the host of the show in which Ranbir started recalling some funny idioms one of which was “apna hath Jagannath” which simply means “To do ones work by your own.”
Conclusion:
In the entire show, there was no mention of lord Jagannath, so it is clear that the clip is getting viral with a misleading claim.
