Fact Check
To check the viral claim, the DFRAC desk first applied a reverse image search on the viral images. During this, a viral picture was found on the website ‘chatogramnews’ which has been used in the news published on 2nd August 2022. It has been told in this news that- ‘A major fire broke out near Kadhurkhali Government High School at around 4 am on Tuesday (August 2) in Chittagong’s Bolkhali. Five shops and three goats were burnt to ashes.
The news quoted the Boalkhali fire service as saying that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit at around 4 am on Tuesday (August 2).
According to the report of Bangladeshi website ctgkhobor, ‘shops of Mohammed Muharram Ali, Mohammad Ronnie, Mohammad Karim, Parimal and Dolan were burnt in the accident.
Conclusion
Therefore, it is clear from this DFRAC fact check that there was a massive fire in Boalkhali, Bangladesh due to an electrical short circuit, in this incident the shops of Muslims including the shops of Hindus were also burnt to ashes, so the viral claim of the users is misleading.
