On August 20,2021, a twitter user going by @noconversion posted a video that claimed that Delhi’s chief minister Arvind Kejriwal attended a Christian conversion event in Delhi where hundreds of people were converted to Christianity.
The video has been viewed over 32,000 times with 3,500 likes and 2,400 retweets. The handle itself has a massive following of over 2 lakh people. The account is followed by verified handles such as @SwarajyaMag, @vijaygajera, @RajivMessage and @DivyaSoti.
Fact-Check:
Upon reverse searching key frames of the video and key words mentioned in the banners used in the video, we found that the original video was first posted on September 5, 2015 on Evangelist Daniel Mohan Singh’s YouTube channel. The original video is 7 minutes long and feature the CM for a minute or so. There was no evidence found that any conversation took place at the event. We looked into Singh’s profile and found that he is a travelling evangelist who motivates and spreads the word of Christianity all over the country. There was no evidence of conversions found in all the documentations we searched.
Additionally, we contacted Aam Aadmi Party on the helpline number provided on the website where a party worker has denied this claim completely. The CM did go to this event but this was simply an event organized to promote peace amongst the community. It must be noted that this video was posted by the same handle on July 23,2021 as well but did not gain as much traction.
With the evidence presented before us, we declare this video to be false and misleading.
