A video circulating on social media claims that “On January 25, 2026, three members of a Christian family Jitendra Soren, his wife Malati Soren, and their 15-year-old daughter were brutally murdered by a “Hindutva mob” in Nialijharan village, Keonjhar district, Odisha.”
Fact Check:
The DFRAC found the viral claim to be misleading.Upon investigation using a keyword search led to credible media reports published by The New Indian Express (January 26, 2026) and The Times of India (January 27, 2026).

According to The New Indian Express, the victims Jitendra Soren, Malati Soren, and their daughter were killed by their relatives over a property dispute, with no indication of a communal motive.
Similarly, The Times of India reported that three relatives were arrested in connection with the murder, reinforcing that the crime stemmed from a family dispute rather than any religious or mob violence angle.
To further verify the claim, we contacted the Ghashipur police station. Officials denied the viral communal angle and clarified that the incident occurred due to a family dispute.
Conclusion:
The viral claim is misleading. The triple murder in Keonjhar, Odisha, was a result of a property dispute within the family, not a communal attack.
