Doctored video of Asaduddin Owaisi claims that he told his supporters to back Pakistan

Fact Check en

A video circulated on social media by pro-Pakistan accounts features AIMIM party president Assaduddin Owaisi, who allegedly claims that the Pakistan armed forces had superiority over India during the conflict in May 2025. In the video, he also allegedly warned that if minorities are harmed in India, he and his supporters would start backing Pakistan.

The account with the username, @InsiderWB, first posted this video with a caption on it that says: “BREAKING Asaduddin Owaisi delivers a blistering message to Modi”. Furthermore, it quotes Assaduddin Owaisi’s message with: “When you felt pain after Pakistan hit back, did you finally understand what an Indian Muslim feels when your extremists beat him every day? Stop oppression. Otherwise, do not call us traitors tomorrow if we stand against your radicals”

Fact-Check

The DFRAC team analysed the video and found it to be fake and digitally altered. There is no evidence from verified media sources to support the claim that Mr Owaisi made such controversial remarks. Upon reviewing his original speech delivered on January 4, 2026, in Mumbai, we found no trace of the statements attributed to him in the doctored video. In his original speech, he addressed various other issues, including criticising the government by referencing U.S. actions in Venezuela.

For further clarification, we reached out to AIMIM leader Muhammad Salman. After reviewing the video in question, he stated that it is completely fake. He explained that Mr Owaisi questioned the central government on why Prime Minister Modi cannot conduct an operation similar to the one Donald Trump executed in Venezuela, which involved capturing and bringing the Venezuelan President to the United States. Owaisi highlighted that such action should be directed toward the mastermind of the 26/11 attacks, who is based in Pakistan.

Conclusion

Therefore, the video purporting to show Assaduddin Owaisi praising the Pakistan armed forces and threatening to back Pakistan is digitally manipulated.
