After a meeting, social media users shared an official photograph of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin shaking hands, dismissing Afghanistan’s claim concerning the Pak-Afghan border and reaffirming that the boundary is legitimate and internationally recognized.

Fact Check
The DFRAC team’s research revealed that the claim shared on the 23rd of Oct, 2025, by the X user @PakUrdu is fake.
The rejection of Afghanistan’s claim over the border was never mentioned in the statement made by Russian MFA Maria Zakharova, “We welcome the agreement between Kabul and Islamabad on a mutual ceasefire along the Afghan-Pakistani border. We call on the two countries to further expand their cooperation, including in the field of counterterrorism.”

Further research revealed that even the Pakistani news channels, in their videos, have also supported the statement made by the Russian MFA in their briefing.

Moreover, there is no mention of Russia’s rejection of Afghanistan’s border claim during the most recent meeting of the two prime ministers; instead, it focused on strengthening trade relations.
Conclusion
The claim by social media users is FAKE, as the Russian government never made any statement regarding the Pak-Afghan border.
