Upon investigation, the claim was found to be false. According to media reports (October 20, 2025), security forces in Shopian detected and defused an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by suspected terrorists along the roadside in Heff during a routine patrol, preventing any casualties.

Additionally, the image shared with the claim is unrelated. It dates back to September 2024, showing a road accident in Kokernag where eight police personnel were injured while returning from polling duty.

Conclusion:

The viral post falsely claims a deadly IED attack in Shopian. In reality, the IED was safely detected and defused, and the circulated image is from an unrelated 2024 accident.
