Hamid Abdullah Ahmad Al-Ali is an advocate of Salafi, the militant ideology of Islam, on X. He not only promotes political Islam but also appears to conduct anti-India propaganda in favor of Pakistan. For this purpose, he has also resorted to false narratives. Sheikh Hamid bin Abdullah Ahmad Al-Ali

Sheikh Hamid bin Abdullah Ahmad Al-Ali is a Kuwaiti Salafi scholar. He was born on January 20, 1960, in Kuwait. He obtained a Master’s degree in Tafsir and Quranic Studies from the Islamic University of Madinah. After returning from Madinah, he also served as a teacher at Kuwait University. He worked as the Secretary-General of the Salafi Movement in Kuwait, Al-Harakat Al-Salafiyyah, from 1991 to 1999.

Investigation into Hamid Al-Ali’s Terrorist Activities

He issued a fatwa justifying the use of suicide aircraft in the 9/11 attacks in America. This fatwa publicly exposed his connections with the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda for the first time. Due to controversial activities, a criminal court in Kuwait sentenced Hamid Al-Ali to two years in prison in 2004. However, his sentence was suspended upon payment of 1,000 Kuwaiti dinars. Nevertheless, in March 2005, he was arrested for his fatwas related to jihad. During this period, he remained in prison for 21 days.

Hamid Al-Ali was also accused of supporting the Ahrar al-Sham group in Syria. The full name of Ahrar al-Sham is the Ahrar al-Sham Islamic Movement, which was formed during the 2011 Syrian Civil War to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad’s regime and establish an Islamic government. In 2017, members of Ahrar al-Sham merged to form a larger Islamic organization called Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which recently overthrew the Syrian government. Ahrar al-Sham was established on a Salafi ideological framework and supports jihadist ideology.

Hamid Al-Ali was included in the United Nations and United States sanctions lists for charges of raising funds, recruiting, and facilitating travel for terrorists wishing to join Jabhat al-Nusra in Syria. He attempted to reconcile between the leaders of Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIS, and traveled to Syria several times to meet with Jabhat al-Nusra leader Abu Mohammed al-Julani and ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Subsequently, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt also included Al-Ali in their lists of designated terrorists.

In another tweet, he wrote that in India, there are temples called “Visa Temples” where people worship visas for work and study in America. So what did Trump do? He increased the visa fee to $100,000. Hindus rushed to the visa temples there and prayed to Trump to cancel this massive increase in fees, which was previously less than $3,000.

Hamid Al-Ali shared an old video of Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani in the New York City mayoral election, writing that the Gaza massacre reminds him of the Gujarat massacre. The new mayor of New York, who won the election yesterday, says his roots are connected to the Muslims of Gujarat, where 20 years ago, Hindus committed genocide, when Hindus massacred thousands of Muslims and displaced thousands of Muslims who are now living in camps. He says, “Indian Prime Minister Modi supports this genocide, and Netanyahu is also a war criminal like him.”

Support for Pakistan During Operation Sindoor

Hamid Al-Ali stood with Pakistan by creating narratives against India during Operation Sindoor. He also attempted to fabricate false and misleading narratives against India. During this period, he also tried to garner false sympathy in favor of Pakistan. In his tweets, he presented the attacks on terrorist camps to the world as attacks on mosques. He also claimed that in retaliatory strikes, the Pakistani military destroyed an Indian brigade headquarters and shot down two Indian Rafale fighter jets.

Campaign of Atrocities Against Muslims in India

Hamid Al-Ali has presented actions taken against Muslims by Hindutva supporters in India as atrocities against Muslims. He has also accused the Modi government at the center of targeting Muslims in India and Kashmir. News related to Muslims in India has been presented in Arabic in such a way that it appears Muslims in India are being targeted for their religion and worship practices. Not only they, but their religious identity and religious sites are also not safe in India. However, the anti-Muslim stance of Hindutva organizations is also contributing to this. Exposing Hamid Al-Ali’s False Narratives

Hamid Al-Ali also resorted to false and misleading claims in his narratives spread against India. He also spread fake news in support of Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. Not only that, he also made false claims to create an anti-Muslim image of India. We will now expose these below.

Fact Check: Hindu Youth Seriously Injured Muslim Man with Axe Attack

Hamid Al-Ali shared a video citing Uttar Pradesh. This video is CCTV footage. In the footage, one person can be seen brutally attacking another person. Giving a communal color to the case, Hamid Al-Ali captioned the video writing: Uttar Pradesh: A Hindu man attacked a Muslim man with an axe when he was sitting peacefully with his child. The Hindu man’s name is Govind and he was roaming the streets fearlessly carrying an axe.

Fact Check:

To investigate the claim made with the viral video, DFRAC searched for some keywords related to the claim. We found a post by Shamli Police regarding this incident. It stated that a case has been registered under relevant sections at Jhinjhana police station regarding the matter. The injured person has been medically examined. The condition of the injured is completely normal and out of danger. During the investigation, it was prima facie found that the accused made obscene remarks about his sister. Investigative action is being taken in the case. Govind’s claim that he will kill 26 in return for 26 is completely baseless and false. Do not spread such rumors; otherwise, strict legal action will be taken against those spreading rumors.

Additionally, after the arrest of the accused Govind, a statement from the Shamli Superintendent of Police was also found. It stated that Govind and Sarfraz were friends and neighbors. Both worked as laborers together. Sarfraz had an illicit relationship with Govind’s sister. Sarfraz used to make obscene remarks to Govind’s sister. For this reason, the incident was carried out. He also denied any communal angle in the case.

2. Fact Check: Thailand Fireworks Video Shown as Israeli Drones Sent by India Being Destroyed in Pakistan

Hamid Al-Ali helped Pakistan considerably in creating an anti-India atmosphere during Operation Sindoor. For this, he resorted to several false and misleading claims. On September 9, 2025, sharing a video of smoke plumes in the sky, he claimed that 35 Israeli drones sent by India have been shot down so far.

The video was shared on May 6, 2025, with the caption: “Only in Thailand.” The viral video is of fireworks called “Thai Girandola.”

3. Fact Check: Misleading Video of an Indian Soldier Being Killed by a Pakistani Sniper Shared

Hamid Al-Ali shared a video on X on May 9, 2025, during the India-Pakistan conflict. In which a soldier can be seen being shot from a distance. Sharing the video, he wrote: A Pakistani sniper targeted an Indian soldier on the Line of Control in Kashmir.

To investigate the claim made with the viral video, DFRAC first converted the video to keyframes. Then reverse-searched different keyframes. During this, we found a similar video on the Documenting Reality website. This video was posted on the website on October 17, 2021. Thus, it is clear that the viral video has been on the internet since 2021.

DFRAC’s fact check proves that the viral video is misleading because the video has been on the internet since October 2021. The video has nothing to do with the India-Pakistan conflict.

Conclusion

Sheikh Hamid Al-Ali has been designated as a terrorist and sanctioned by several countries, including the United Nations. He is openly promoting his Salafi-Takfiri ideology through social media. India is also in his crosshairs. While he is a staunch supporter of Pakistan, he appears to cross all boundaries in opposing India. The atrocities of Hindutva supporters on Muslims in India directly aid their anti-India agenda. He is presenting a negative and anti-Muslim image of India in Arab and Muslim countries.
