Fake video claims Dharmendra Pradhan removed “6” and “0” from math syllabus

A video of India’s Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is circulating online with the claim: “The BJP government has decided to remove the digits 6 and 0 from the math syllabus so that the Indian Air Force is not embarrassed.”

Fact Check

Upon investigation, we found the claim to be Fake. The original video comes from The Hindu’s YouTube channel, titled “The Hindu Mind with Dharmendra Pradhan” and published on September 22. At the 56:57 timestamp, he is discussing the number of IITs in India, not aircraft losses or Operation Sindoor.

We also found the article where it completely mentions that, highlighting that India is prepared for a quantum jump, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, at The Hindu’s Mind series, hailed the Indian community’s achievements overseas. Mr. Pradhan was responding to a question on what his advice would be for youngsters who are looking for jobs in foreign countries amid uncertainties.

“I am confident about my institutions. Our IITians, IIM students, and state university students are doing excellently in the global economy. Our community has a lot of knowledge capacity overseas, and they’re from Indian institutions,” Mr. Pradhan said. 

Further analysis using an AI video detection tool indicated a 54.2% probability that the viral clip was edited using AI.

Conclusion

The viral claim and video are fake. The video has been digitally manipulated using AI. Dharmendra Pradhan made no such statement about removing “6” and “0” from the syllabus.
