False claim: 6 Indian soldiers were killed in ULFA militants attack from Myanmar

India is accused of conducting a drone and missile attack on the Myanmar-based militant organization ULFA (I) camp. Where its commander was killed by India. But the Indian army has denounced any such cross border strike or act.

Meanwhile, a social media user was found claiming that 6 soldiers of Indian Army Assam Rifles have been killed in the counter retaliatory attack by the militant organization ULFA. Nevertheless, this assertion is FAKE. One of the users posted that six Assam Rifles of the Indian Army were killed in the retaliatory attack by the Myanmar-based ULFA group. An image is also included in the post, and in it, one may observe the Indian national flag tricolor and certain coffins.

Fact Check

DFRAC team members initially performed a reverse image search of the image of the viral picture used alongside the claim with the assistance of Google Lens. We discovered that the image was posted on Shutterstock 6 August 2013. The details provided along with this photograph are that these are the coffins of 5 Indian soldiers. These soldiers were martyred during the attack by the Pakistani infiltrators at Poonch sector of Jammu. In other words, this is a 12-year old picture.

Meanwhile we also searched some key words in both Hindi and English. We seached about the martyring of 6 Assam Rifles troopers in the ULFA militants of Myanmar attack. However, no news issued by any major media was encountered by us.

Conclusion

It is proved from the fact check of DFRAC that a fake claim is being made on social media about the martyrdom of 6 soldiers of Assam Rifles of the Indian Army in the attack by ULFA militants of Myanmar. At the same time, the image of coffins of Indian soldiers with the tricolor is also 12 years old. The user’s statement is hence FAKE.
