Pakistan-based social media accounts have circulated a claim alleging that Kashmiri militants killed two Indian soldiers and captured their rifles in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir.

One such account, Tactical Tribune, posted that militants had killed two Indian soldiers and seized their weapons in the Kishtwar region.

Another user echoed the claim, stating:
“Slap on the faces of those who said mujahideen buckle under pressure and halt operations in Jammu and Kashmir. The boys just stopped publication, seized items from soldiers during the Chatroo ambush in Kishtwar.”

Fact Check

Upon investigation, we found the claim to be fake. Our investigation found no recent reports of such an incident.

On April 12, 2025, Kashmir News Observer reported that security forces neutralized three terrorists during an ongoing encounter in the Chhatru forest area of Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir.

Further confirming this, India Today reported on April 14 that troops recovered a cache of weapons from the slain terrorists, including: 1 American M4 Carbine, 2 AK-47 rifles, 11 magazines, 65 M4 bullets, and 56 AK-47 bullets. The encounter involved no casualties among Indian soldiers.

The White Knight Corps (16 Corps), Indian Army, also shared official updates on X on April 11, 2025, verifying the same facts.

The claim that militants killed two Indian soldiers and seized their rifles in Kishtwar is fake. Verified reports show the opposite—Indian forces killed three militants and recovered arms during the operation.
