An account with the username ‘@SilentlySirs’ posted a claim on a popular social media platform X. The user claimed, “They have destroyed the port of Haifa.”
The user has more than 90 thousand followers and approximately a million people viewed the post. More than four thousand people have also shared it by far.
A user with the username ‘@ZahidKh735121’ posted a video along with two different videos on platform X that make a similar claim, showing fire explosions with the caption “Haifa, which is Israel’s largest port city, has been almost completely destroyed by Iran.”
Another user with the username ‘@munmamun777’ posted another video with a similar claim.
Fact Check
DFRAC conducted research to determine whether the viral claim and videos are true or not. After the research we discovered that the viral claim and Videos are FAKE.
A media report was published on ‘cnbctv18’ on 15 June. The headline of the report suggests “No damage to Adani-operated Haifa Port in Israel following Iran missile strikes”.
Another media report by ‘The Economics Times’ was also published on 15 June. The headline of the report is “ ‘False’: Adani CFO denies Haifa port being destroyed by Iranian missile strikes”.
In July 2022, the Israeli government announced that winning bidders Adani Ports & SEZ and local chemicals and logistics group Gadot had purchased the Haifa port for 4.1 billion shekels (US$1.2 billion).
The account with the username ‘@ZahidKh735121’ shared the video, claiming “Iran has almost destroyed Haifa, which is Israel’s largest port city,” which also turned out to be FAKE. A user on Facebook with the account ‘Abdoosh Aliyyi Ibrahim’ also shared the same video on 3 May 2025. The user shared the video concerning the Israel-Gaza conflict, which is unrelated to the Israel-Iran war.
The video shared by the user ‘@munmamun777’ is misleading. We found the same video published on BBC news on 15 June, in an article. The headline of the article states “Israeli paramedics on the ground of a missile strike in Haifa”. Suggesting that the video is from the Haifa strike but not on the port.
According to sources quoted by news agency PTI, shrapnel fell in the chemical terminal of the port on Saturday night while some other projectiles landed on the oil refinery. Reports indicate that the strike reportedly did not impact Haifa port, and operators continue the usual operations in the area. Sources also told the publication that there were currently eight ships in the port and cargo operations remained “normal”.
To further confirm, we checked the official accounts of all the officials of the Adani group and found that they shared no such news.
Conclusion
Hence, it is confirmed that the viral claim and the videos are FAKE. According to the information gathered from all the sources, the Adani-operated Haifa Port in Israel is fully operational. The missile strikes from Iran on Israel have caused no harm to the port.
