A claim has been widely circulated by several Pakistan-based accounts regarding the number of casualties along the Line of Control (LoC) following the recent border clash. One such account, “Eagle Eye,” alleged that at least 350–400 Indian soldiers were killed in the incident, further asserting that India is concealing the true toll due to the scale of the losses.

Several other accounts have also echoed this claim, which can be seen in the linked posts here and here.
Fact Check
Upon investigation, we found the claim to be misleading. A keyword search led us to a report by NDTV dated May 11, 2025, which clarified the actual figures. According to the report, the Indian Army confirmed the loss of five soldiers during ‘Operation Sindoor’, which was launched in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In an official briefing, the Army stated, “I pay homage to five fellow personnel from the armed forces—their sacrifices will always be remembered.”
The same briefing noted that the Pakistan Army reportedly lost around 35 to 40 personnel in artillery and small arms exchanges along the Line of Control between May 7 and May 10.
Operation Sindoor was initiated in the early hours of May 7. It targeted nine terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as retaliation for the Pahalgam attack. All subsequent Indian military responses during this period were carried out under this operation.
A separate report by India Today corroborated these figures.
Additionally, The Economic Times reported that the precision strikes under Operation Sindoor resulted in the elimination of over 100 terrorists. It included key operatives involved in the IC814 hijacking and the Pulwama attack.
Conclusion
Thus, from the fact check, it is evident that the viral claim is misleading. There is no credible evidence to support the viral claim. The officially confirmed number stands at five. The higher figures appear to stem from unverified sources and are likely part of disinformation campaigns.
