A claim is being made on social media that in Murshidabad, West Bengal, a Hindu family was brutally murdered by Rohingyas who forcibly entered their home. Several users have shared photos of a man, a woman, and a young child, along with a description of the incident.
A user named Arun Yadav wrote about the incident involving this family:
“At night, you had locked the door from inside and were telling a bedtime story to your 8-year-old son as you both slowly drifted off to sleep. Your pregnant wife had already gone to bed earlier due to fatigue. The house was peaceful. Suddenly, a loud banging was heard at the door, followed by shouting voices demanding it be opened. Before you could fully awaken and understand what was happening, several people had broken in through the door. With trembling hands, you tried to call a friend for help on your mobile, but one of the intruders from the Rohingya mob struck the hand holding your phone with a sharp weapon. Blood began gushing from your hand, but you didn’t even feel the pain—because some of them had begun attacking your 8-year-old son with sharp weapons. You cried out, ‘At least don’t kill the child!’ But your desperate voice was drowned out by the screams of those wolves. Right before your eyes, those wild animals inflicted deep wounds on your innocent child in three or four places, causing him to bleed from multiple areas. Meanwhile, some of the younger brutes had attacked your wife’s body. Within moments, your own body has so many injuries that you begin to lose consciousness. And in those very minutes, your 8-year-old son, your wife, and the unborn child in her womb were all murdered.”

Meanwhile, several other users are also sharing the same photo with similar claims.
Fact Check
The DFRAC team conducted a reverse image search of the photo. We found that the incident is not recent but occurred in 2019. We came across a report published by Times Now Navbharat on October 10, 2019. According to the report, on the day of Vijayadashami in Murshidabad, three members of a family were brutally murdered. The deceased, Bandhu Prakash Pal, was a primary school teacher and also associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The murderers did not spare Bandhu Prakash’s pregnant wife and eight-year-old son either.

Further investigation into the case revealed that the main accused in this murder case, Utpal Behra, was arrested by the police. According to a Dainik Jagran report dated October 15, 2019, the police stated that Utpal Behra murdered the teacher with a sharp weapon to take revenge for an insult. When the wife and child witnessed the crime, they too were killed. The police arrested Utpal Behra.

Additionally, other media outlets, including ABP News, Jansatta, and Punjab Kesari, also reported that a man named Utpal Behra was arrested in connection with the murders.
Conclusion
DFRAC’s fact check clearly shows that the incident is not recent—it took place in 2019. Moreover, there is no communal angle involved in the case, as the police arrested Utpal Behra, who committed the murders to avenge a personal insult.
