The Indonesian President has been invited as the chief guest in India’s 2025 Republic Day celebrations amid speculations stating that he would visit Pakistan which could directly impact the India-Indonesia deal of BrahMos, as cited in Indian Express’s report cruise missiles. In its aftermath, a pak-based handle shared a claim quoting facts from old news and alleging that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto had rejected India’s request not to visit Pakistan following his trip to India for the 2025 Republic Day celebrations.

On Jan 13, 2025, an account named Tactical Tribune shared a screenshot from the old news and wrote: “The Indonesian president has rejected India’s request not to visit Pakistan this year’.

The DFRAC team investigated this claim and found it to be misleading.

Upon conducting a keyword search, we came across the latest reports published by The Economic Times, News X, and Indian Defence News.

The reports stated that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto decided to visit Malaysia from India instead of traveling to Pakistan, following his trip to India for the 2025 Republic Day celebrations, according to Indian sources.

Earlier, India had formally expressed displeasure with the Indonesian government on Subianto’s decision to travel to Pakistan from New Delhi, where he will be the chief guest for the Indian Republic Day celebrations.

Conclusion

DFRAC’s Fact-check clearly shows that that the above-shared claim has been misleadingly shared on X. The Indonesian President has decided to visit Malaysia after attending India’s 2025 Republic Day celebrations.
