Pakistan-based handles posted an image of deceased Indian Navy soldier Dinesh Burak and alleged that he has been mysteriously killed on board an Indian Navy vessel.

An X handle named Tactical Tribune shared the image and wrote: “Indian Navy Sailor Dinesh Kumar has been mysteriously killed on board Indian Navy vessel. Indian officials have not mentioned further details which indicates India’s poor maintenance and training are behind this incident”.

Following this one, another named Crimes Reports India also shared the same image and made a similar claim.

Fact-Check

The DFRAC team investigated the claim and found it to be false.

We conducted a keyword search regarding the above viral claim, leading us to multiple reports on the Internet and YouTube. As per these reports, Burdak’s health deteriorated during duty last year and he was admitted to RR Hospital in Delhi. He breathed his last during treatment on 10 Jan, Friday night.

Investigating further, we also discovered that the news has been printed in one of the newspaper editions of Dainik Bhaskar citing similar facts along with the same image.

Conclusion

DFRAC’s fact-check clearly shows that the viral claim alleging that Indian Navy Soldier Dinesh Burak has been mysteriously killed on board an Indian Navy vessel is misleading indeed. He died due to some deteriorating health issues that worsened later and became the reason for his tragic demise.
