Viral Video Claiming PM Modi Addressed an Empty Stadium in Kuwait is Misleading

During his two-day visit to Kuwait, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with the Kuwaiti leadership, attended a football tournament, visited a labour camp, and addressed an Indian community event there. Against this backdrop, a video is being widely shared online with the claim, “Bluff about Modi’s packed stadium in Kuwait,” showing an empty stadium.

Following this, another user was also found sharing a similar claim.

Fact Check

On investigation we found the claim to be False. Upon investigation, we found official footage shared by the verified X accounts of India in Kuwait and MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. These accounts posted videos showing PM Modi addressing a stadium filled with attendees at a timestamp of 0:49.

Additionally, we cross-verified with YouTube uploads by prominent media houses, which provides complete coverage of the event. These videos confirm that the stadium was indeed packed during the speech.

On close inspection, we found that the viral video was from the beginning of the event, capturing the time when people were still arriving and taking their seats.

Hala Modi Event

Addressing the Indian diaspora at the ‘Hala Modi’ event in Kuwait, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that India has the skill, technology, innovation and manpower that the “new Kuwait” needs. He said the two countries are connected with the bonds of the heart.

Conclusion

Therefore, based on the official event footage and media coverage, it is clear that the claim of PM Modi addressing an empty stadium in Kuwait is false. The viral video misrepresents the actual event, which witnessed a large audience.
