Reality behind the viral Picture of Priyanka Gandhi’s, “I don’t care about Bangladeshi Hindu’s” Bag.
Due to the recent political changes in India’s neighboring country Bangladesh, reports of violence against minorities, especially Hindus have started to take place. On a similar line, the viral photo of the Congress MP from Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi has been circulating on social media. In the viral picture, it can be seen that “I don’t care about Bangladeshi Hindus” is written on her bag.
Social Media users are sharing this picture and claiming that Priyanka Gandhi is carrying a bag with the lines ‘I do not care about Bangladeshi Hindus’ written on it.
Following this, another user was also found sharing the same image along with the claim which can be viewed here.
Fact Check
Upon research conducted by the DFRAC team, using reverse image search, it was found that the original picture is related to a report published by Aajtak dated,16 December 2024. The report states that Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached Parliament on Monday, December 16, carrying a handbag with “Palestine” written on it, showing support and solidarity towards the people of Palestine.
Recently, the Charge d’Affaires of the Palestine Embassy in New Delhi, Abed Elrazegg Abu Jazar met Priyanka Gandhi and congratulated her on her recent Wayanad election victory. As a symbol of solidarity, the bag, carried by Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also had Palestinian symbols such as watermelons. She has been raising her voice from time to time against Israel’s action in Gaza.
Besides this, we also found a short video of her bag with PALESTINE written on it, on Priyanka Gandhi’s Instagram handle.
Furthermore, we also found a report published on the website of the Hindi newspaper Hindustan on December 17, which mentioned that Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi had reached Parliament on December 16 with a bag that had “Palestine” written on it.
The aftermath of the event was followed by heavy criticism, by the ruling party citing appeasement as the cause. The next day, on 17 December, Priyanka Gandhi reached Parliament with a bag on which बांग्लादेश के हिंदुओं और ईसाइयों के साथ खड़े हों translated “Stand with the Hindus and Christians of Bangladesh” was written, showing support towards Bangladeshi minorities (Hindus and Christians).
Priyanka Gandhi and opposition MPs also demonstrated outside the Parliament complex carrying bags with Bangladesh written on them and demanded the government take action against the atrocities being committed against Hindus and Christians in the neighboring country.

Conclusion
It is clear from the fact check conducted by DFRAC that the picture of Priyanka Gandhi with a bag, on which it is written ‘I do not care about Bangladeshi Hindus’ is edited. However, in the original picture, Priyanka Gandhi is carrying a bag with Palestine written on it. Therefore, the claim of the users is misleading.
