Fact Check
During the investigation, DFRAC found the claim to be false. We found multiple media reports regarding the news. According to an India TV report published on December 13, 2024, “In a major development in the India-China border issue, Chinese troops withdrew from the Depsang area of Y Junction and Raki Nala in Ladakh. The report mentioned that the Chinese Army had returned to its territory. Besides, the report also claimed that the Indian Army can now patrol Y Junction and Raki Nala as per the norms decided in earlier meetings.”
Moreover, we also found a report from News18 published on December 13, 2024, which states, “External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Friday responded to a query on the border agreement between India and China by Congress MP Manish Tewari in the Lok Sabha, saying the last of the disengagement agreements between both sides pertained to Depsang and Demchok.”
Conclusion
It is evident from DFRAC’s fact check that the claim “China says Indian occupation of Ladakh, Kashmir, and Arunachal will end soon” is false. Chinese troops have withdrawn from Depsang and Raki Nala in Ladakh, allowing the Indian Army to patrol these regions as per earlier agreements.
