Fact Check:  Old photo of UPSC coach Avadh Ojha’s Dargah goes viral with misleading claim of it being recent

Kamran Khan December 7, 2024
DFRAC Fact Check

Well-known UPSC coach Avadh Ojha is currently in the news. In fact, renowned teacher Avadh Ojha joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on 2 December in the presence of convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia and there are reports in the media that he may contest the assembly elections from Delhi on behalf of Aam Aadmi Party.

Amidst this, on social media, an image of UPSC coach Avadh Ojha is going viral. In the viral picture, Avadh Ojha and his wife Manjari Ojha can be seen holding flowers and a sheet in a plate. Users are sharing this picture and claiming that after joining Aam Aadmi Party, Avadh Ojha has accepted Deen (Islam religion).

A user shared the picture and wrote, “Avadh Bhai accepted Deen as soon as he joined AAP.”

Fact Check

During the investigation, DFRAC found that the claim was false. We found this photo uploaded on a Facebook account named Avadh Ojha on 11 May 2024. This photo is from the time of offering chadar at the dargah.

Furthermore, we also searched about Avadh Ojha’s conversion to Islam but we did not find any media report which mentioned about Avadh Ojha’s conversion to Islam.

Conclusion

It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that this photo of Avadh Ojha is present on the internet since May 2024, not after he joined Aam Aadmi Party and neither has Avadh Ojha converted to Islam. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading.

Fact Check: No, Pakistan’s J-10C Did Not Shoot Down an Indian Rafale Over the LoC Dramatic silhouette of a Chinese-made J-10C fighter jet in mid-flight against a vivid sunset sky, with its afterburner trail illuminated in the twilight. The image was featured in a viral social media post by a Pakistani defense account, falsely claiming that the aircraft had successfully shot down an Indian Rafale jet during an aerial encounter over the Line of Control (LoC).
